There is an End to Suffering

Published by bird at 10:57 am under Uncategorized Edit This

Wow!  I can’t believe it’s been almost two weeks since I’ve posted.  I promised you a post ten days ago, didn’t I?  If anyone remembers, I said I was going for surgery and would need a day to recuperate before my next post on the Third Noble Truth.  A day turned into two weeks.  That’s a perfect example of the Third Noble Truth, which is the end of suffering.  The end of suffering is brought about by letting go of ego.

Ego thinks it’s very smart, you see.  It knows all the answers.  Ego thinks it’s God or at least god, so it makes plans in advance.  “I’ll post on May 22.”  “I’ll recuperate on May 19 and post on May 21.  I’m in control.  I decide everything.  I’m in charge.”

That was exactly the attitude I took when I last wrote.  I had no idea that fate, the world or life as it’s process unfolds, had a different plan for me.

As it turned out, I developed an infection after my surgery.  Then one complication led to another, and the last two weeks have been a nightmare for me of sicknesses following one behind the other. Finally, I got so stressed out by being sick, that when I went to most my blog - I’m ashamed to admit this - I forgot the site name!  I couldn’t remember my Buddhadharma blog was on Today.com!  Today I found it just surfing the web.  I saw an ad for Today.com and said to myself, “Oh, my God, that’s it!”

The whole thing turned out to be a great opportunity for me to relearn the Third Noble Truth.  Letting go of ego, realizing that I’m not in charge, realizing that the world isn’t run by my very rational coginations - that’s exactly what the Third Noble Truth is!  So how do we let go of ego?  How do we stop making the same mistake over and over again?  Stay tuned to tomorrow!

I’ll write!  I promise!  Providing it is my karma to do it.  I hope you will welcome me back onto your reading schedule.  I really love doing this blog.  Honest!
